"Unknown Ritual" is a long-term intermedia art project consisting of several “episodes” of film, video art, and photography, with performance art as its core element. The project focuses on site-specific art creation and explores ancient spiritual rituals while also attempting to invent new ones, shaped by performance art and improvised music during magical journeys to various places around the world.
"Unknown Ritual No.1" was undertaken in Wuhan, China, which is the city that Tan Tan loves and hates at the same time, her hometown.
Uknown Ritual No.2
The film was shot in a scenic spot in Hailar, Inner Mongolia. This is an encounter between human and the emptiness, which happened in an apple of Sodom, a theme park of massive scale. Meantime, this is a meeting between a natural spirit and a man-made ghost.
